Biodiversity of the Satanivska Dacha tract, a UNESCO World Heritage site (Ukraine)

Abstract. The Satanivska Dacha tract in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ukraine, is unique that Fagus sylvatica L. grows here at the edge of its geographic range. In 2017, forest community was included trans-European World Heritage site ‘Primeval beech forests and ancient Carpathians other regions Europe" by UNESCO under name Site No. 61 ‘Satan’s Dacha.’ territory tract, 163 species vertebrates have been recorded, including 12 amphibians, 6 reptiles, 96 birds, 50 mammals, which are representatives 24 orders. Within world heritage site, 72 recorded: 7 3 39 23 mammals. There 135 protection statuses Red Data Book Ukraine (33 species), Regional List (23 Bern (134 Bonn (43 Washington (17 species) conventions. Of higher plants, 234 169 within (2009, 2021) 5 CITES list. Regionally Rare Species Need Protection Oblast includes were found 17 grow site. bryoflora consists 98 bryophytes. mycoflora, according to preliminary studies, fungi fungus-like organisms. According EUNIS classification, rare biotopes represent following type—G: Woodland, wooded land; G 1.6: Beech (Fagus woodland). Three associations identified a synsozological status Directive Council Europe 92/43/EEC. population Allium ursinum L., Galanthus nivalis Epipactis purpura Smith, helleborine (L.) Crantz, Barbastella barbastellus Schreber monitored. characterised high potential as an environment for self-regeneration biota on whole. Continuation monitoring programmes this type extremely important.
